Traffic Jam at Green Lane exit.

Penang is famous for its traffic jam at the Green Lane Exit, when using the costal highway, especially when entering Penang Island via the Penang Bridge.

Years ago back when the only exit is the green lane exit, when i drove back from KL for the first time, i was stuck at this point for 1 hour, Imagine KL to Penang Bridge, 4 hours, then for a distance of around 2 km, it took me 1 hour.

With the New Jelutong Highway open all the way in to the Jetty, you did think that traffic at this spot will have ease. Yes it did, but it will still jam up, Why?

Well it is due to the drivers who jump que by driving on the left and then cramp them self in to the underpass toward green lane which is on the right lane. I will forgive those car with out of the state plates as they might not know which lane to use, but for the others.

I manage to get this snap of a car (circle) cutting in to the underpass as i was the passenger this day. I do hope that the Penang Police Chief or His traffic counterpart will place a traffic police man here, Oh the number of saman he can get will definitely exceed his quota for the month.

Environmental Unfriendly Lorry

How can this lorry be on the road considering the amount of Black Smoke it is emitting? JPJ and the Transport Ministry should look into this very seriously.

My coworker say that this lorry is not too bad actually, there are worst offenders, just the other day he say that he saw a lorry that is emits so much smoke that he could not see the road! This snaps were taken on my way to the Post Office (Pos Laju) to get my new camera.

The Picture Below is a Driver who like to jump que by taking the right turn lane to be infront of the que, Unfortunately for him, I actually wanted to turn right, and created a ruckus as the light was green and he stop, so he got no choice but to go to the front, By that time the light have turn green.

First I get stuck behind a smoking lorry, then i get stuck behing this que jumping driver. Bad Trip

Fortunately for this driver, the Traffic Cops did not see this, I know the Cops cannot be every where but these guys deserve getting saman.

Careless Parking

When Parking, Please be Carefull, especially those of you who wind down the window on the Passanger side. I found this Kanchil Park in a basement of a Shopping Complex in Penang with the window half wound down. I told the guard to look into it, but i dont think he did any thing.

Terrible Trip to KL and Back

I normally enjoy the drive down to KL, but not this trip on the 1st March (early morning) going down to Kl and Back up on the 2nd March.

The Trip down was not too bad. When i hit the Highway at 3am, all was fine till after Ipoh, when it started raining and the roadworks on going, I arrive in PJ at 7pm in the rain.

Comming Back on the 2nd, departing at 5pm, It started raining immediately, and it got worst progressively. I made a fast Pit Stop at Tapah Rest Area, and found my self looking at Telok Anson / Telok Intan Clock Tower.

After leaving the tapah, the rain got worst, and saw two accidents just before Ipoh. One was a Produa Vehical, whose real wheel came off (Sorry No Picture - too dark) and the other was a bus. That told me to be more carefull.

It really started to pour at the Ipoh Toll, just after the South Toll, North Bound, travelling at 80kmph, i ran into a pool of standing water, and almost came to a standstill, after that i was driving at 60kmph till taiping, I could hardly see, but Kancils, Bus and Lorry was zooming pass me.

I made it home by 9.10pm safely. I just wonder, how many malaysians think of safety while driving.

More Problematic Drivers

There seem to be a surg in double lot parking, ie a driver that need two lots to park their normal car in. After reading about this in a few blogs, (Kyspeaks, Shaolintiger, Seraph Chronicles) just before the New Year, I came across three incidents in just one day, the eve of Chinese Year 2008. Please enjoy the unedidted photos i cant be bother any more to cover up the plate numbers.

This MPV, and Car required two parking lot each, photo's take at Juru Auto City. The Driver of this Proton, also require two parking lot to park his car safely, to pay his credit card bill infrom of citybank, juru auto city or he has a toilet emergency.

And this car at Fettes Park, also needs two lot, fortunately for him the parking guy gave him only one parking ticket, not two. (unfortunately for us)

This is a small sampleing of Socially inconsiderate Drivers, (to be polite about it) others bloggers are not so kind, and will take photoes with the plate number clearly seen.

There is no excuse to park this way, even if there are plenty of parking lots avaliable at that time. It has to do with the person attitude, Hopefully shaming them in blogs will help them to be more socially considerate in the future.

Driver in a Hurry

This driver sure is in a hurry, I was right at the front waiting for the lights, planning to turn right when this driver just jump que and shot out and jump the red light and turn right. Hey Buddy what the rush! Going over to Prai?, Rushing for the Toilet? or some other thing. Take it easy will you.

A one lorry Accideent

Well the above is a picture of a one lorry accident at a T junction some where in Seberang Prai Selatan, Penang.

My Friend was driving, so this give me the opportunity to take a snap. As mention, it involve one lorry only, which i think tip over when negotiating this turn, it's cargo appears to be rice or grain being delivered to a feed mill factory? some where further up the road.

This of course created a traffic jam at this junction. However why did the lorry tip over, overloaded? lorry not well maintain? I thought that such vehicles must be periodically check by Puspakom (by Law) before their road tax can be renew. What Happen? This accidents seem to be quite common judgeing by the photo's publish in the Star.

Socially Inconsiderate Drivers

Drivers that are socially inconsiderate are found every where, in Cities, Big Towns and Small Towns. Carrying a Camera Phone, is certainly convenient to take snapshots of everything especially of things that i hate. Socially Inconsiderate Drivers (to be polite) are one of them.

Triple parking, at Penang GH, what happen if the vehicle in the center need to go? and there are parking space available, 200 meters away. That where i park.

What happen if the car belongs to a Dr, who must response to a emergency?

This is a wide car, a very wide car that need to be park on two parking bay. even a merc take up one car park space, but this car needs two. Well can we saman this guy?

This truck was unloading in this narrow street, grid lock for 5 min with traffic piling up on both ends. This is what traffic jams are course by. The best thing is that when the truck move, he stop at another shop to unload 50 meters further up, He was blasted by around 20 horns inclusive mine. Also, the local police station is in between this two shops.

I conclude that Police are not respected or feared here.

Traffic Discipline

Urgently need a parking place? You only see a narrow spot? Never mind just park, i am sure that others do not mind. Snapshot taken Infront of Tunku Abdul Rahman Colledge, Penang Campus, Tanjung Bungah.

Ching Ming Traffic Jam

Ching Ming, The Chinese all souls day usually cause a traffic jams near grave yards and crematoriums, This year due to my new place of work, the 6 km from my house to my workplace have 3 grave yards on the side of the road. What took daily a 10 min drive, today took me more then 1 hour. As usual Malaysia Drivers, will "break" all rules just to be "Faster" or is it just "Kiasu" or just to avoid walking that one feet further.
