Birthday @ Corner Club

Happy Birthday Mom!
It was mom birthday, and we started looking for a wheel chair friendly restaurant to take her to. Having that in mind, I suggested Corner Club, as it was pretty wheelchair friendly and the food is good.
As it was quite some time we have been here last, I was surprise to see the ramps at the restaurant entrance have vanished. Still it is easy for my mon to step out of the car, and manage that one step up in to the restaurant.
That when we notice that the restaurant have undergone some extensive renovation, it bigger, brighter, neater, and that i begin to get worried on the food quality.
To cut the story short, the food quality remains, it's still as good as before, even with the new management, the renovation, all the usual menu items remain, and now you can even get tim sum at night here.
They dont bring the tim sum in carts any more, you order from a photo menu, and they steam them fresh and bring it out. I like that, many time i have to eat soggy tim sum due to oversteaming in the carts.
Price wise it remain the same. Any way we enjoy our lunch here! and will be back for more

Jalan Delima Makan

I have not have dinner in this area (Jalan Delima, Island Glade) for a long time, to be accurate before I started blogging, and surprise surprise, the place where i had tim sum with my cousin is no longer there (not that i wanted a bite there) In fact before I took my cousin there, it was even a longer time, 15 + years.
.
.

The Old Coffee Shop (Near the 4 D shop)

This area use to be a favourite of my family, long a go. Why did we not come back here? Traffic and timming i guess. Getting there is a hassle from Ayer Itam and Tg Bungah and cannot find proper car park, but its sure convenient if you are comming in from the Main land.

. .

. Any way there is a new coffee shop, in this block of Shops, Everthing looks new, I did not get the name by the way, but in general the food here is good. (By the way, I came here on the Night of 7th of March 2008. Just pre elections)

This is what Penang lang call Laksa, Thick Round Rice Noodles in a Sourish (Asam) base fish soup with Prawn Paste. The Best I tasted for a long time. Yum!

Chee Chong Fun, Rice Roll, with Prawn / Shrimp Paste and Chillie, No Tee Chong Please, (Sweet Sauce) Yum! Again Nice and Thick Sauce, Best I tasted in a long time.

Tim Sum, Lots of Selection and its good.

Roast Duck Rice, Urg! One of the worst i ever tasted, I thought it good with around 20 ducks hanging, but it tasted like cardboard, overcook, dry, and Pricy

Hokkian Mee, Good. Please Note: Penangnite terms of food is different from other states, to them this is Prawn Mee.

I was sitting next to a Claypot Rice Stall, View of entrance.

The Decoration in a Coffee Shop, Wodden Spoons and Fork.

Well worth a vist for those who is looking of Penang food all in one place, Lots of Verity, Real Street Food, Just Horrible Parking!. For those of you comming in from Mainland, turn of the Highway just after Tesco, turn left at the frist traffic light, and turn left again. You will see a block of shop house, That the place

Category: Coffee Shop Restaurant / Air con
Price : Value for Money (within Category) ($)

Non Halal Food.
As Payment for being a Driver for the Wesak Day celebration, i was instructed to drive to Macalister Road, near the Grand Paradise Hotel, for Brunch at the Hong Kong Tea Garden Restaurant.
We arrive around 11am, and after dropping of the passengers, in front of the Restaurant, it was time to look for a place for me to park my Proton Wira Aeroback. Knowing the parking situation i quickly turn in to the side lane (I know how to move around in Pg Island, but till now i cannot remember the road names) and after a 5 min search, i finally found a parking space.
By the time i got to the restaurant, the food have been order and they have already started. Tim Sum variety is large, with all the usual stuffs, including Egg Tart, Soya Bean Curd. Food is good and Sweet Give this place a try if you are in this sector of town. If you come in to the road from Komtar, go up this road for around 1km, the Restaurant is on your right just before Grand Paradise Hotel.
Service Was Fast, even it was a busy day, however you may have to "push" for some of the popular food.
With a extended family around it was difficult to take snapshots of the food. The Tim Sum just disappeared from the plate before i can take out my SE750i and before my arrival. For your information there is a large Collection of Hawker Stalls for dinner together with next door coffee shop. The Street Food here is good. Back to the Tim Sum, 4 Adults, 2 Kids, 2 Toddlers total damage was less then RM50.
Fried Yam Dumpling being Snatch! off
Various Tim Sum,
Hong Kong Chee Chong Fun.

Sim Nam Hong Cafe, at Komtar Penang

A old Chinese Coffee Shop, currently located at KOMTAR, Phase 1. This coffee house which was located in the vicinity before KOMTAR, was build was relocated in to KOMTAR is located in a bit out of the way location. However if you want good Coffee Shop / Street Food (especially old style) while you are in the complex, this is one of the few locations.
When i drop in on this Wednesday, early around 12 noon, most of the stall was close, however lucky for me two of the best stall was open. The Tim Sum Stall here is good, with a wide verity of choice. See Picture below. What unique here is the Ikan Haruan Pau, and the Steam Otak Otak. Give it a try especially the Ikan Haruan Pau which is not common at all.
We had the Har Kau - Prawn Dumpling, the Siew Mai - Pork Roll, and the Seaweed Siew Mai, The Prawns in the Har Kau was covered in Fish Meat, The Siew Mai was Ok, but the Seaweed Siew Mai, was excellent, fragrant and soft.
The Hong Kong Chee Chong Fun, (prawn fill), was soft, and smooth. If I am not mistaken, all the Tim Sum are homemade, not factory manufactured.
I had the Yong Tau Fu, which mean to most is the Fish Meat fill vegetables, to me it is Pork Spare Parts of various types in a broth, serve with Yam Rice.
The Yam Rice was not up to expectation, however the pork spare parts were correctly prepared.
